Jamie Conlan's bid for a first world title was ended after a sixth-round stoppage by IBF World super-flyweight champion Jerwin Ancajas at Belfast's SSE Arena.

The Filipino southpaw produced a one-sided display to beat a brave Conlan, targeting the body of the Northern Ireland man before referee Steve Gray called a stop to the contest.

Ancajas started the stronger of the two when forcing Conlan to take a knee in the opening round before the challenger suffered a nasty cut to his left eye in the second.

Conlan was down again in the third and fourth rounds following further punishment to the body as Ancajas continued his relentless pace.

The Belfast native showed resilience but could not compete with the champion's accuracy and power as referee Gray stepped in during the sixth round to call a halt to the bout - making it a third consecutive title defence for Ancajas.

Earlier on, Paddy Barnes extended his unbeaten record to 5-0 with a sixth-round stoppage against Eliecer Quezada to win the vacant WBO Intercontinental flyweight title.
