Furious Harry Styles fans have kick-started the ‘Respect Harry’ hashtag after footage emerged of the singer being groped during a gig.

Styles was performing his track Kiwi at the We Can Survive concert in Los Angeles when one over excited fan grabbed his crotch.

The former One Direction singer can be seen pushing a sea of hands away from him as he stands up and walks away from the audience after the incident.

Fans were left “absolutely disgusted” and launched ‘#RespectHarry’ on Twitter to speak out against sexual harassment.

They said the behaviour had gone too far, and encouraged people to have more respect for the singer.

One tweeted: “Absolutely disgusted at what happened to Harry. I am still shocked and it sickens me that "fans" do that to their idols. #RespectHarry.”

Another posted: “I'm so shook that someone just thought it was okay to grab Harry Styles whole crotch like can you imagine the outrage if that was a woman?”

Styles was said to be in shock following the incident and proceeded to avoid getting too close to the fans for the remainder of the concert.

A source told Yahoo Celebrity UK: “You can tell it freaked him out a little because as he continued performing, he avoided the section that fan was standing in.”

It comes months after the hashtag started trending on Twitter after a group of girls allegedly turned up to his New York City apartment and treated him in an objectifying manner.

Styles is currently touring his debut album which will see him perform two UK dates in Manchester and Glasgow next month before heading to London in April 2018.
