Pradhyumn murder case: Ashok's uncle under CBI scanner
GURUGRAM: In a new twist to the Pradhyumn Thakur murder case, uncle of bus conductor Ashok Kumar, who was granted bail by a Gurugram court on Tuesday, is under CBI scanner.
Kumar’s uncle Omprakash Chopra was summoned by the CBI on Tuesday after an audio clip of him talking to the juvenile accused’s family has gone viral on social media.
In the audio clip Chopra can be heard talking to juvenile’s family and assuring to help after the bail of Ashok Kumar.
Family members of Class XI student, apprehended by CBI, is seeking help from Chopra in the alleged audio clip. Chopra was giving tips to juvenile’s family and advised them to keep low till the case is making headlines in the newspapers.
When contacted by TOI, Chopra claims to know teenager's relatives for long time but denied charges that he was fixing a deal. He admitted to have a conversation with teenager’s family over phone but added that it was only to console them. “I know them and talked to them (teenager’s family) only to console,” said Chopra adding that he had no intention to strike any kind of deal.
Chopra was present in court on Monday during the hearing of bail application and has accused Gurugram police and Ryan school authorities for framing Ashok. In the audio clip Chopra is blaming school authorities of first framing Ashok and now the juvenile.
Chopra, maternal uncle of Ashok, had accused police of subjecting Ashok to third-degree torture to force confession to the crime. Chopra, a former MTNL employee, had alleged that Ashok was an easy target because he is poor.
Chopra talking about his interaction with Ashok in Bhondsi jail on Monday had said, “Ashok had gone to the washroom, where the murder took place, minutes before the incident and saw two senior students changing for their karate classes.”
